The Importance of Blueprints And Plans

Blueprints and plans are designed by designers and architects using large scale sheets of vellum of varying sizes.

Generally blueprints are created by placing the finished vellum sheets drawings over blueprint paper and then it has to be run through a blueprint machine.

The blueprint paper is exposed to extreme ammonia and light which allows for the development of the blueprint paper and the transformation of the drawings into a deep blue color.

These vellum sheets drawings are very valuable as it represents the many long hours spent by the architects or designer in creating these plans.

In these modern times most of these drawings can be accomplished with the use of a computer aided design software program, which makes this task much easier and faster to accomplish.

When these computer generated drawings have been completed they are printed on a plotter which is basically a printer capable of printing large scaled items..

Because these plans are created on the computer it is easy for the architect or designer to pull up the original plan from the computer's file and re-plot if necessary.

Also it is very useful if there are any changes to be made to the original plan, vellums can be bought rather than a whole pack of blueprints, which gives you the ability to make several blueprints if necessary for your construction needs.

Most home plans are created according to scale to allow leverage in the event that a specific dimension was not included in the original plan. This will allow the contractor to scale the drawing if necessary so as to determine the exact measurements that are required.

Elevations can be described as a non-perspective outlook of the house and they include plans of front, back and side elevations on both sides and they also specify the heights of any ridges, roof pitches and exterior finishes among other details.

The basement and foundation plan outlines the position of bearing walls which are used to lend support to the structure, and also points out the positioning of hurricane strap placements, footings, steel placement and any other elements of the building that is needed to support the weight of the upper floor area.

A blueprint of a floor plan design layout simply shows the overhead view of the finished product. It contains parallel lines that are scaled to the width of the walls.

The dimensions are drawn in between all the walls in order to identify the size of the rooms and also the length of the walls. Water heaters, sinks and a/c units and other fixtures are also shown in these floor plans.

The electrical layouts of lines and box are quite often found on another page, in order to make these readings easier to understand. Electrical layouts also show the position of lighing fixtures the location of light switches etc.
